What to Know & FAQ

Please secure a prescription from your primary care provider, your dentist, your chiropractor.  This allows the massage to be TAX FREE.  The prescription simply needs to say client “will benefit from massage therapy”.

Please do not ever worry about your body, your shape, your skin, your size! I do not have a typical stationary massage table, I have an hydraulic table that supports 600 lbs.  And massage therapists truly don’t care if you shave your legs.

I have a special cushion that help supports women who have had a mastectomy, or women with larger breasts.

Always cancel your appointment if you have a FEVER (not just during Covid times) and or you feel as if you are coming down with something.  Massage can exacerbate your condition because it increases circulation that may, in turn, help the infection increase the severity of the fever and symptoms. Other times massage is contraindicated would be very recent surgery,  cuts or open wounds, if you have a contagious skin infection, or thrombosis.  There are specific contraindications for CUPPING, which I will screen you for if we decide to use cups.  Cupping cannot be done on anyone who is on a PRESCRIPTION blood thinner, on pregnant women, on clients undergoing treatment for cancer, on clients with kidney disease or problems.

Please wait at least 48 hours to have a massage after receiving vaccinations/boosters
like Covid, flu, botox etc.

During the massage, breathe like you are meditating.  Let yourself be heavy, like a wet noodle.  Therapeutic pain is ok (hurts so good kind of pain), but PLEASE tell me if I am hurting you.  Many clients think “well, she is the massage therapist, so maybe this is what I need”.  Your massage does NOT need to hurt to be effective.  It is ok if you fall asleep, it is ok if you snore!  Try not to worry about these things!

If you cannot keep your appointment, please cancel.  Do NOT send someone in your place.  I have lengthy wait list that I can pull from to fill in.

Please do not arrive early to your appointment.  While I may be in my office, without a client, that may be time that I need for other office duties, phone calls, cleaning,  eating lunch, or just taking a break to be fresh for your massage!

If you are running late for your appointment, just text me to let me know.  And know that I will only to be able to work on your for your alotted appointment time.

I like to  shape your massage to what YOU like.  Your massage can be full body, or if you prefer to just focus for an hour on your back and neck, that’s what we’ll do.  Just want a scalp, neck, hand and foot massage?  That’s what we will do!  Generally, I’ll ask you how you’d like your massage to be shaped, and I will tell you if there are other things I feel I should add so you get the maximum benefit.

Level of undress:  you can wear anything under the sheets, or nothing!    Whatever you are comfortable with works best.  However, wearing nothing under the sheets allows me to make your massage very fluid, and smooth.  I typically work the gluteal muscles, because these are some big muscles!  For your massage therapist, it is easiest, smoothest, and most fluid if you do not wear underwear for this.  You will be draped with a sheet, and I will just expose the area that I am working on, tucking the sheet all around you so you feel secure.  Then, when I am finished with that area, I will immediately cover the area back up.  If that just does not feel comfotable for you, THAT IS OK!  I can still work your glutes through the sheets!  And if you are reading this, thinking, I don’t think I am comfortable with you working my glutes, then that is ok too!  Try to think tissue and muscle!

Assisted stretch and PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) stretching may be added to your massage.  There are a few stretches I may do when you are undressed, draped with a sheet, while you are on the table receiving your massage, but for the most part, stretching will be done while you are dressed in gym clothes.  So wear or bring something you would feel comfortable stretching in.

I am not taking new clients.  While I would love to accommodate everyone, I am at maximum capacity right now.  I do keep a wait list for clients interesteed.

Cancelation:  Please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance, so I can fill the vacancy.  I realize there are times when true emergencies come up, so please just call or text, and I can try to reschedule you.  If canceling with less than 24 hours notice, half of the cost of your session will be charged to your credit card on file.   A no show will be charged for the full price of the session.
