CLASSIC TRADITIONAL MASSAGE:

This is a classic type of massage. Client will disrobe to their level of comfort, and be draped with a sheet.  Your privacy and integrity will be highly regarded.  This type of massage will be mostly Swedish using massage oils, involving firm, long, kneading strokes, often combined with some movement of the joints. It is a relaxing, and energizing massage. For areas that need a bit more work, muscle tightness, adhesions, scar tissue, etc. myofascial release may be used, which involves very slow, gentle, but firm sustained pressure to connective tissue with restrictions. 

Cupping may be included with your treatment.  Together we may decide to add a more medical or clinical approach, which could involve assessments that will take into account your hips, are they level, are they rotated, etc? Your feet, how you stand, your posture, your symmetry.  We’ll likely talk about your job, your hobbies that may be contributing to asymmetry  and therefore causing certain muscles to tighten and become short, while others are stretched long and weak.

ASSISTED STRETCH (PNF STRETCHING)

PNF stands for proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation.  This is an assisted stretch, where your massage therapist assists you into a stretch, then has you contract the muscle against resistance, then the therapist assists you into a deeper stretch.  It is a very effective way to stretch for improving flexibility and increasing range of motion. 

You can book this type of appointment for 25 minutes (targeting a specific group of muscles) or 50 minutes for a full body stretch.  Please wear gym clothes so you can comfortably stretch!

​ASHIATSU:  BAREFOOT MASSAGE

Ashiatsu, or Barefoot Massage is delivered by a specially trained therapist, who steps up onto the table while the client is typically face down. The therapist supports themselves with bars and a strap that are installed above the massage table, which allows the therapist to control the amount of body weight that is applied to the client. Oil is applied by the therapist with their hands to distribute it evenly, and warm the tissues. The therapist’s feet are sanitized before each session.

This type of massage delivers deep compression, and long, luxurious gliding strokes. The foot is a broader surface that can apply diffused, smooth pressure. For most of the session, the client is face down.  At the end, some work is done while the client is face up. The face is always massaged with the therapist’s hands. Most clients typically comment that they cannot believe it’s my feet delivering the massage!  They also often report that the effects of the massage last longer than a hands on massage.
